How do you locate cities on a globe using latitude and longitude?

i just need to know the basic steps to find a place using latitude and longitude.

  1. 'same way as u find out co-ordinates on a graph paper..i.e X-axis and Y-axis. In geography X-axis is the equator and Y-axis the zero degree longitude or Greenwich meridian. So equator is zero degree latitude and numbered till 90 degree N or S of equator , 90 degree will be the pole, 90N is North pole.Same way zero degree longitude is taken as the starting point, and numbered till 180 degree E or W...so 180 deg Eor W is exactly opposite 0 degree longitude. Equator is a physical reality, and longitude is just a concept , and zero of that is fixed arbitrary as the longitude passing through a place in UK , Greenwich observatory. so 00N,01W means place on equator and it is lying 1 degree w of zero longitude.
