How do I convert an address to latitude and longitude on Yahoo maps?

I would like to be able to convert a street address to a latitude and longitude for my GPS. Both lat. and long. formats would be helpful. How can this be done?

1. This process of converting an address into lat/lon is called 'geocoding' in the world of geography. There are many on-line and stand-alone tools that will help you accomplish this. Most of them will cost you. Teleatlas runs a web site at http://www.geocode.com/ that is generally recognized to be among the best, because they have really good, detailed, frequently updated address and streets information for many cities and locales throughout the world. The prices they charge are reasonable, but are most likely a waste, if you just need the coordinates for recreational use. If you're in the US, I suggest a free on-line tool: http://geocoder.us/ Just enter your address in the box provided and voila! you get coordinates. This site uses the US Census address and street information to get the lat/lon of the address you enter. The coordinates that are returned should be in the middle of the street in front of your house, if your street is coded in the system correctly, which is not always the case with Census data.
